A Must-Have Swimming Pool Life Jacket
We tried several flotation devices over the past few summers. When Bella was an infant, a float with cut-out seats and a shade worked well. When she became more mobile, we tried a few other things like a regular float without a seat and arm swimmies.
Then I finally came upon Stearns Kids Puddle Jumper Deluxe Life Jacket
. I didn't realize some life jackets were Coast Guard approved -- cool. Of course, I let Bella select the design she liked: turtle it was (maybe I'm giving her too many options too early). The first time she tried the vest, she required a lot of support. By the second time, she was learning to lean forward and kick w/ her feet. Now she can "swim" by herself for a few seconds at a time.

Don't Forget Your Child in the Car
Please keep a careful watch on your kids while they are in the car.
Here's an important article on How to Remind a Parent of the Baby in the Car?
And the Pulitzer Prize-winning March 2009 article “Fatal Distraction.”

Jungle Grub
Tried some Jungle Grub chocolate chip cookie dough, peanut butter groove, and berry bamboozle.
Tastes like PowerBar for kids. I'm not so hot for them, and Bellarina too thinks they're gross.

At Last, Double Hallelujah!
At 2 years and 5 months, Bellarina is finally sleeping through the night.. just out of the blue... without any fancy sleep training techniques. Those unrelenting wakeful nights: oh how aweful they were. God is merciful, and His timing couldn't be more perfect.
AND she is now not only pee-pee-trained but poopy-trained as well. If you recall, she had a bout of poopy-potty-phobia for some time. Since the traumatizing incident, she had been requesting the diaper every time she had to poopy. Our lies about having no diapers failed when she uncovered the dozens of diapers hidden behind the sofa. When those ran out, there really was no diaper... in the living room, that is (plenty in her room and in storage). One time when she really had to go and she saw that there really was no diaper, panic and hopelessness came over her face. But within a few seconds she was at the potty doing her business. Ever since then, it's always been poopy in the potty. :)
The bad part about being potty trained is having to visit all the nasty public bathrooms while we're out. Ick.
